Just like the Baftas, the Northampton Film Festival celebrates excellence in filmmaking.
From 7th to 15th March 2025, Northampton venues hosted screenings of independent films by filmmakers from across the UK.
On Saturday night, the NFF awards ceremony lit up Northampton’s Guildhall. The evening was presented by Festival Director, Becky Carrier and hosted by Daisie-Belle. The evening brought filmmakers, actors, movie lovers and creatives, together for an evening of celebration.
The Baftas are renowned for their red carpet glamour, emotional speeches, and heartfelt thank-yous.
One question was on NorthantsMag’s mind that evening—just how much like the Baftas was this event going to be?
The Red Carpet Experience.
The Baftas is known for its infamous red carpet and lo and behold, guests were invited to have their picture taken on the red carpet leading into Northampton’s beautiful Guildhall.

All the Fashion from the Northampton Film Festival Awards Ceremony 2025
No film festival is complete without a touch of evening wear glamour. The town’s rising film stars, directors, and creatives showcased an array of styles. Northants Mag managed to track down presenter Daisie-Belle, singer That Joe Payne and NFF Director Becky Carrier to get the low down on their gear.
The Awards Ceremony
The highlight of the evening was, of course, the awards ceremony, where outstanding talent was recognized across multiple categories. The competition was fierce, with filmmakers showcasing a diverse range of storytelling, from gripping dramas to innovative documentaries.
Film Directors‘ remote heartfelt messages
While many of the festival’s leading names were present, some directors unfortunately couldn’t attend in person. However, the magic of technology ensured their presence was still felt. Pre-recorded messages, heartfelt video calls, and remote acceptance speeches allowed absent filmmakers to share their excitement and gratitude with the audience.
Winners of BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM – Drainspotting by Andy Oxley and Joshua Gaunt couldn’t be there in person- but Andy did manage to send a heartfelt message – straight from the barber’s chair.
