Former Mayor and Local Author Celebrate New Book Launches at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery

Two Northamptonshire authors will be celebrating their latest works at a joint book launch hosted at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday, October 11th, from 10am to 3pm.

The town’s former mayor, Dennis Meredith, has just published his fourth book. He began his writing career at the age of 83 with a self-published autobiography, My Life the Way I See It. Since then, he has turned his hand to romantic fiction. His latest novel tells the story of Veronica, an alcoholic mother of two daughters whose lives take very different paths: Elizabeth enters a convent while Carol launches her own magazine. The book explores their struggles and triumphs in love, work, and family.

Dennis Meredith will be joined by fellow local writer Peter Dietrich , who is unveiling his new children’s story, Flossy and the Tiger.

“Flossy is a wild twelve-year-old girl who adores nature and spends all her spare time in the park,” Peter explains. “One day, while exploring the spinney, she finds a tiger. Instead of running, she befriends him. They explore the park before visitors arrive, hide out in his secret den, and get to know each other.”

Bringing the story to life is illustrator Fiona Jenney, a young artist from Rushden whose detailed and imaginative artwork is shaping the visual world of Flossy and her striped friend.

The free event offers book lovers the chance to meet both authors, hear more about their creative journeys, and pick up signed copies. It also highlights Northampton’s growing literary scene and the museum’s role as a hub for community arts and culture.

The event takes place on Saturday October 4th from 10am to 3pm at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery.
