Where’s the best place to watch the World Cup?
Oh, you can watch it in Barratts. The Spinney Hill Pub is great where I often frequent. There’s lots and lots of places with great beer gardens and great places to watch the football tonight.
Who do you think is going to win the World Cup apart from England?
I think France are going to win.
Why’s that?
Because they were close last time. And they’re a good team. They’re a good team.
Who’s the dark horse in the competition?
What, as in a team?
Yeah.
Who’s the underdog? I don’t know. I was going to say Japan, but I think they’re out now, aren’t they? I’m not sure. I’m not sure either. I don’t really know much about football.
Where’s the best place to watch the World Cup, do you reckon?
Northampton.
Where, about any particular spot? You can say here if you like.
What is this? The Old Bank? This is V&B. Yeah, V&B’s. That’s brilliant.
Thank you very much.
Beer or coffee?
Whilst you’re watching a game.
Coffee.
Okay, and best snack?
Where’s the loudest place you’ve seen a World Cup game?
Barratts, without a doubt. Barratts after an England goal is something to behold, so I hope everybody down there tonight enjoys it. What a great night, but come on England!
So apart from England, who do you think is going to win the World Cup?
As much as, well, I think France are going to win. I think, I don’t know though, the way it’s been rigged, who knows? But France should win, France should win.
What’s been your best World Cup memory?
Oh, there’s been a lot of late drama, late game drama.
Oh, we like drama. Yeah, and yeah, it’s been really good. It’s like the England game, the 3-2 game was really good. Yeah, there’s just a lot of late drama, actually, in general.
Messi or Ronaldo?
I’m not keen on both, to be fair. I’ll go with Ronaldo because I like Portugal.
Ladies, who do you think is going to win the World Cup apart from England?
I think it’s probably going to be France, if I’m being completely honest.
I think France or Argentina.
Oh, Argentina, yeah. It’s a bit fixed for Argentina, to be honest.
What’s been your best World Cup memory?
This year, I think it’s just anything to do with Haaland. He’s amazing. I was only in Norway once.
I’d probably say I’m a Ronaldo fan, so I was quite sad when Portugal went out.
Where’s the weirdest place you ever watched a World Cup game?
It’s funny you should ask that because that was a really brilliant question because I can take you back now to 1966 when England won the World Cup and when I watched it I was on holiday at Herne Bay. And I watched it there in a caravan and watched the final of the World Cup. And it was really, really, it was all in black and white, the television. So it was quite an experience.
Oh, amazing.
Apart from England, who do you think is going to win the World Cup?
France. I’ve got them in the sweep at work and I win £8 if they do.
Where’s the best place to watch the World Cup?
I think at home. Yeah, watch it at home because then you’ve got your sofa, you’ve got your fans, you can get an ice pop, you can get a beer.
Beer or coffee?
I mean, I don’t drink at the moment, so it’d probably just be a Coke.
Favourite World Cup snack?
Crisps.
