Kettering launches playful campaign to tempt EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy “home” for star-studded opening of Lucky Chuck’s.
Lucky Chuck’s Leisure Lounge – a brand-new retro playground of pizza, cocktails and games – has launched a tongue-in-cheek campaign to persuade actress Natalie Cassidy, aka Sonia Fowler, to finally make her Kettering debut.
In a memorable 2016 EastEnders storyline, Sonia moved to Kettering to work at a private hospital, putting the Northamptonshire town at the centre of a soap shocker. Now, as Lucky Chuck’s prepares to open in the former Mister Ray’s department store on Market Place early next year, the team is rolling out the red carpet and calling for Sonia to return to the town she helped put on the map.
Zoe Ball has already lent her support, saying:
“I’m so disappointed Sonia from EastEnders couldn’t be your ambassador. Lucky Chuck’s sounds fab – all the luck in the world for your launch! Hopefully I can pop by sometime (and maybe top a few pizzas!).”
Kettering’s Mayor, Cllr Ben Jameson, added:
“Sonia Fowler moving to Kettering is still one of our favourite soap storylines – she’s our most famous fictional resident. So, Natalie, consider this your official invitation to see what Kettering is really all about.”
Inside the iconic Mister Ray’s building, work continues on transforming it into a late-70s-inspired mash-up of arcade bar, pizza joint and gaming den, creating 30 new jobs. Expect pizza by the slice, craft cocktails, augmented reality darts, interactive shuffleboard, neon beer pong and more.

Meet Lucky Chuck – the shady cartoon casino boss fronting the venue’s irreverent social media campaign. The brand’s chaotic humour and wild storytelling are already turning heads, and Kettering will be the first to experience this next-generation entertainment concept before it rolls out nationwide.
As Natalie Cassidy tours her memoir Happy Days and Life with Nat podcast, fans are waiting to see if she’ll answer Kettering’s call. Lucky Chuck’s is urging everyone to join the fun online using #BringBackSonia – and help bring Sonia home to Market Place.
Lucky Chuck’s is calling on fans to join in on social media, tagging #BringBackSonia and urging Natalie to make the trip from Albert Square to Kettering Market Place.
