Women as filmmakers, storytellers and sportspeople are being showcased at the Northampton Film Festival this March, with the winners of the annual film festival, announced on International Women’s Day, Saturday 8 March.
Running from February 28th to Sunday March 8th, the festival’s programme will include films made by and about women across film, sport and everyday life.

Women in Film showcase
Monday 2 March | Northampton Filmhouse
A dedicated evening celebrating female filmmakers, featuring the short film Swim Sistas by Northampton-based director Catherine Joy White. Described as a poetic love letter to water, sisterhood and the enduring strength of Black women across generations, the film explores connection, care and collective resilience.
Tuesday 3 March | University of Northampton
The short film Dear Heart offers an intimate glimpse into the mind of an ordinary 63-year-old woman who believes that being outdoors and active every day is the antidote to life’s ‘stop cards’ — a quiet, reflective portrait of ageing, agency and self-care.
Feature documentary: The Corinthians
Wednesday 4 March | Northampton Filmhouse
This feature-length documentary tells the remarkable story of The Corinthians Ladies FC, the original rebel girls of football. Formed in Manchester in 1949 — at the height of the English Football Association’s 50-year ban on women playing — the team challenged the all-male establishment and won, leaving a lasting legacy in women’s sport.

Now in its 5th year, Northampton Film Festival showcases films from independent filmmakers — including talent from Northamptonshire — across venues throughout the county, including Delapré Abbey, Northampton Filmhouse and the University of Northampton.
